CPU's have ruled the performance landscape for many decades and still do in many applications, and add-on graphics cards have generally been focused on the gaming sector for many years - but that is changing!
Over the last few years various modern software has been adapted to make use of processing cores found on graphics (GPU) cards (CUDA). As the rise of AI / Deep Learning / IoT etc, which can make of GPUs, seems unstoppable it only is right that Tranquil look at and provide systems, especially Cluster Servers, with support for GPU co-processors.
During Q2 2017, the V6XD (4x Xeon node Cluster unit) is being prepared to accept GPU cards to each of the compute nodes. Later (Q3) the V6XD+ (10GbE version of the V6XD) is also scheduled for release to include GPU support.
The list of GPU cards that will be supported is now in progress.
If you have a particular need for a GPU enabled Cluster Server, please let us know.
Or, if you would like to make a contribution that may shape our plans, again, feel free to let us know.
